GM Recalling 450,000 Due to Break Fail

General Motors  recalling a 449,671 vehicles and SUVs with potentially failing brake fluid warning lights.

The recall affects the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, as well as the 2023 and 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade, and Escalade ESV models.

According to the recall Report, the brake control module may fail to warn the driver of brake fluid loss before the braking performance affects.

According to reports, the breakdown is caused by an issue between the brake control software and calibrations.

Dealers will install a software update on impacted vehicles to match the brake module software to the correct calibration.

Vehicles that can receive over-the-air updates will be able to acquire the patch from home, whilst non-OTA-equipped vehicles would need to visit their dealership.

Dealers were notified of the recall on September 12, and GM will notify owners by mail beginning October 28.

Owners can also check the NHTSA recall website to find out if their vehicle's VIN is included in the recall.
