Porsche Recalling 27,000 Taycan EVs with Short-Circuit Risk

Porsche is recalling 34,026 electric vehicles because a short circuit in the high-voltage battery system could cause a fire.

The recall covers 27,527 Taykan electric sedans from the 2020-2024 model years, while Audi's recall covers 6,499 e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT models from 2022 to 2024.

(NHTSA) states that some models covered in the recall may have a short circuit in the battery module. This may cause a fire.

This measure involves several steps. This includes informing some affected owners not to charge their vehicles more than 80 percent until diagnostic software is installed on the vehicle...

All vehicle owners are asked to bring their vehicles to a Porsche dealer. This will check the battery module. and install the new and improved diagnostic software. It's a last resort.

If the inspection finds a defect in the battery system The automaker will replace the module free of charge.

A warning message will appear on the dashboard and the battery's charging capacity will be limited if the updated software finds an anomaly.

Notification letters to Porsche dealers will be sent out on October 16; owner notifications will come out on November 29.
